We specialise in biogas components
Here you can find out
a bit about us.
In 1999, our two managing directors at Biogastechnik Süd GmbH, Clemens and Gregor Maier, took over their parents’ farm, the Heslerhof, in Isny-Sommersbach.
In the same year, a biogas plant was built at the Heslerhof. The problems they encountered at the time with high-speed agitators when large quantities of grass silage were used in the biogas plant’s fermenter inspired the two of them to build their own slow-speed agitator. The Varibull paddle agitator, developed in 2002, has since proven its worth thousands of times over and is one of the best-selling agitators of all time. Gradually, further biogas components were developed. The wide range of products for biogas plants produced by Biogastechnik Süd GmbH in the years that followed thus has its origins in the day-to-day work of a farm.
Our biogas components are made FROM PRACTICE, FOR PRACTICE.
Profile
Our philosophy
It is not easy for agricultural businesses to utilise their renewable raw materials and waste products, such as slurry and manure, underideal economic conditions. Our aim isto create solutions with our biogas components for biogas plants that make this possible. Bycontinuously improvingour biogas components anddeveloping new technologies, we aim to always offer our customers the best possible solution.
We are convinced of the benefits and environmental friendliness of our products and are thus making an important contribution to the renewable energy system. This is because biogas plants are the only producers of renewable energy capable of generating electricity and heat flexibly and in line with demand.
How we see ourselves:
Our greatest asset is the high level of motivation and the many years of experience of our staff.
We are committed to reliability and quality:
• through a high degree of vertical integration, with all stages of production – from development through to after-sales service – carried out in-house
• through the use of high-quality and particularly durable materials
Our core strength lies in our ability to continually develop new technologies and solutions based on the demands of day-to-day operations:
Drawing on practical experience and with a focus on practical application, we are constantly developing new biogas components and processes that are precisely tailored to our customers’ needs.
Our primary goal is the satisfaction and long-term success of our customers. As we come from an agricultural background ourselves, we know what really matters.
Right from the start, we have placed great emphasis on:
• the durability and robustness of all biogas components
• Low maintenance costs and low self-consumption of electricity during operation
• Comprehensive and expert advice, remote maintenance or on-site support
• Simple, straightforward handling and operation
The founders
Clemens and Gregor Maier
The brothers Clemens and Gregor not only work as managing directors of their company, but also run a farm comprising a dairy herd, a biogas plant and a digestate evaporation plant. It is particularly whilst working on the farm at weekends that new ideas take shape, forming the basis for Biogastechnik Süd GmbH’s future innovative biogas components and products. Vague ideas are tested immediately and developed with the Biogastechnik Süd GmbH team until they are ready for series production.
As you can see, our motto ‘From practice, for practice’ really sets the tone.

Clemens
I try to take a long-term view of development processes in agriculture. This isn’t just about the development of new products that offer genuine solutions to the problems faced by farmers. I’m also always looking for the right approach, tailored to each individual farm and business model. It is important to me to incorporate the aspect of sustainability, to develop new approaches and to identify areas for improvement.
I feel particularly at home in sales, as this is where I can convey all my ideas and the potential behind them. And, of course, my heart lies in process engineering and development.

Gregor
I stand 120 per cent behind everything we have ever brought to market. Quality and technical progress are our top priorities, alongside our customers. Because we operate our own biogas plant and a digestate evaporation plant on the farm, we know in great detail how the industry works and what needs to be taken into account. I always want to share this knowledge with anyone who is interested and sell only the very best to our customers.
My passion is ensuring that every idea is implemented to the highest possible standard, so that progress and technology are perfectly combined. That’s why I take great pleasure in leading the design department.
Milestones in the company’s history
