Heat exchangers for biogas plants

A stable fermenter temperature is essential for maximum gas production in any biogas plant. Each system is designed for continuous operation in the harsh conditions of biogas plants; they are low-maintenance, energy-efficient and tailored to your plant.

Biogastechnik Süd offers specially developed heat exchangers for biogas plants: plate heat exchangers and substrate heat exchangers. These are used in our OptiHeat, Heatogant and Heatcrack systems, which meet a range of heat management requirements.

Our heat exchangers impress with their high efficiency, long service life and minimal maintenance requirements. They are suitable for various media such as fermentation substrates, fermentation residues, slurry and process water. Thanks to robust materials and optimised design, they ensure reliable heat transfer – even under demanding conditions.

Substrate heat exchanger as a tank heater

The WT-SWT-BE is a high-performance surface wall heating system designed to provide uniform heating of tanks in biogas plants. A special heating pipe is fixed to the concrete wall in a defined pattern using suitable rails, routed outwards through bushings and connected to the heating manifold. This ensures that the required base heat is continuously supplied to the digester and the substrate, thereby supporting stable temperature control during biogas plant operation.

The Heatcrack uses targeted heat input to break down biomass and increase gas yield. This enables material that is difficult to break down to be utilised efficiently, thereby improving economic viability.

Substrate heating for maximum gas production

The system offers added value when heat is to be transferred directly between substrate flows or when a heat pump is to be integrated. Particularly when dealing with low-viscosity fluids and large volumes, the robust design enables a high heat transfer rate as well as long-lasting and low-maintenance operation.

Optiheat
Efficient heat transfer for fermentation substrates

The OptiHeat is a compact containerised system for the thermal conditioning of substrate in biogas plants. A wet shredder with an impurity separator, an eccentric screw pump, a tubular heat exchanger and a control system are integrated into a single container on a turnkey basis. The substrate is pre-treated, reliably conveyed and efficiently heated using a counter-current process. In this way, the OptiHeat ensures stable temperature control and safe plant operation.
